Stanbic Holdings has announced that it has registered a profit after tax of Ksh. 5.2 billion for the year ended 31st December 2020. This represents a reduction from the Ksh. 6.3 billion the company posted over the same period in 2019.
Total income also reduced to Ksh. 23 billion from Ksh. 24 billion in 2019 while operating expenses reduced to Ksh. 12 billion from Ksh. 13 billion.
The board of directors of the company have recommended a dividend per share of Ksh. 3.80 for the financial period ending 31st December 2020. This is reduction from Ksh. 7.05 per share paid in the same period in 2019. ....

The Nairobi Securities Exchange-listed lender made Sh5.19 billion last year down from Sh6.38 billion recorded in 2019.
The profit of Stanbic Bank and its investment arm, SBG Securities, both declined by 19 per cent and 71 per cent respectively pulling down the group’s performance.
Higher loan provisioning across the banking industry ate into the lenders’ profitability as bad loans and cost took a sharp rise in an economy that was battered by the pandemic-related woes.
Six of the 11 listed banks have already notified shareholders they will be reporting substantially lower profits and are therefore unlikely to be paying dividends for the year. ....

The Ministry of Industrialization, Trade and Enterprise Development on February 16, earmarked an estimated 50,000 entrepreneurs to enroll in a training program to enhance digital literacy within micro, small and medium size businesses in Kenya.
Through this program, the government is set to place 2,000 youth into employment by the end of the year.
This digital skills training program is aimed at enhancing employability of micro, small and medium size business ventures in the country. This is in line with the rapidly growing digital market. ....

GoK In A Deal To Impart Kenyan Enterprises With Digital Skills


The programme will target individuals who have lost their jobs during the COVID-19 economic downturn that led to numerous job losses in the country. Stanbic bank and Microsoft Kenya will roll out the programme across the various counties in Kenya with support from the Ministry and its supporting state agencies that will see a total of 1,000 government employees upskilled and seconded to the program as instructors. The program expects to place 2,000 youth into employment by the end of 2021.
Speaking during the launch of the partnership, the Cabinet Secretary for the Ministry of Industrialization, Trade and Enterprise Development, Hon. Betty C. Maina said, “The digital landscape is transforming rapidly, and Kenya must adapt to the new changes to keep the citizens employable.
