Cambodia: Phnom Penh's Covid-19 jab drive ends on July 8 but country's cases continue to surge

PHNOM PENH, June 27 (Phnom Penh Post/ANN): The Phnom Penh Municipal Administration called on Phnom Penh residents aged 18 and over who have not been vaccinated against Covid-19 to get the jabs from Sunday onwards as the vaccination campaign in the capital will end in the first week of July.
In an announcement dated June 25, it noted that the vaccination drive in Phnom Penh has been carried out in concerted effort among volunteers from the Ministry of National Defense, Samdech Techo Voluntary Youth Doctor Association (TYDA) and Union of Youth Federations of Cambodia, among others.

10 dead after drinking adulterated rice wine in NW Cambodia as Covid-19 cases continue to rise


PHNOM PENH, June 3 (Xinhua):Ten villagers subsequently died in northwest Cambodia's Pursat province after drinking locally-made rice wine, which was suspicious of containing high levels of methanol, a police chief said late on Thursday (June 4).
The incident occurred in three villages in Krakor district's Ansar Chambak commune when the victims consumed the tainted rice wine at the funeral of one of their neighbors last week, said Colonel Em Run, police chief of Krakor district.
"Ten people including eight women and two men were confirmed dead and several others have been hospitalized after drinking the adulterated wine," he told Xinhua over telephone.

Vietnam reports 42nd Covid-19 death as local cases keep rising

HANOI, May 23 (Vietnam News/ANN): Vietnam recorded its 42nd Covid-19 related death on Saturday (May 22) evening.
The deceased patient was a 72-year-old woman who was admitted to the National Hospital for Tropical Diseases’ Dong Anh branch in Hanoi on April 30, with a six-year history of chronic obstructive pulmonary disease, with a diagnosis of severe pneumonia and hypertension.
On May 4, the patient tested positive for SARS-CoV-2.
She was transferred to the hospital’s department of emergency and intensive care. According to the National Steering Committee for Covid-19 Prevention and Control, the woman had a number of underlying medical conditions.

HANOI, May 22 (vietnam News/ANN): Deputy Prime Minister Vu Duc Dam has asked authorities in Bcc Ninh and Bac Giang provinces to continue closely monitoring Covid-19 hotspots and bring companies with large supply chains back into operation.
The request was made at a meeting of the National Steering Committee for Covid-19 Prevention and Control.
“Bac Giang Province must strictly manage workers in industrial zones to ensure the virus will not spread to other provinces,” he said. “At the same time the two provinces need to quickly bring businesses that meet safety requirements back into operation, especially those with large supply chains.

MANILA, May 5 (Xinhua): The Philippines will ban travelers from Bangladesh, Nepal, Pakistan, and Sri Lanka from May 7 in efforts to prevent the spread of the highly infectious Covid-19 variant first found in India, Executive Secretary Salvador Medialdea said on Wednesday.
In a memorandum, Medialdea said all passengers coming from or who have been to these countries within 14 days shall be prohibited from entering the Philippines from May 7 to 14.
According to the memorandum, arrivals before May 7 who come from or have been to these four countries will be allowed to enter but will be required to be isolated in government-run quarantine facilities for 14 days regardless of a swab test result.
