Town making progress on Fiscal Sustainability Framework

The Town of Stony Plain is moving forward with its efforts to make the community more fiscally sustainable.
During the May 3 regular council meeting, council members voted to accept two new strategies for information. Phase 2 of the Fiscal Sustainability Framework (FSF) will review ‘Service Levels’ and ‘Asset Management,’ and how they contribute to fiscal sustainability in Stony Plain.

Town of Stony Plain accepts automated traffic enforcement update from Global Traffic Group

The Town of Stony Plain has voted to accept the Automated Traffic Enforcement (ATE) update from its contractor, Global Traffic Group. The motion was passed unanimously during the regular council meeting on Mar. 8.
For over a decade, the Town of Stony Plain has utilized ATE as a supplementary speed enforcement strategy to enhance traffic safety in the community. During that time, the Town has worked with two ATE contractors, Global Traffic Group and Independent Traffic Services Ltd.

The Town of Stony Plain has passed a motion to repeal five outdated council policies dating back to 2000.
During the Feb. 22 regular council meeting, administration recommended that council repeal the following policies: Over or Non-Budget Expenditures (2000), FOIP Coordinator (2001), Vehicles (2008), Subdivision and Development Appeal Board Minutes and Agendas (2001), and Municipal Planning Commission Minutes and Agendas (2001).

In 2018-19, administration undertook the task of reviewing all Town policies. It determined that many are no longer required after being developed into procedures or included in bylaws.
