MMC debunks post linking doctor's death to COVID vaccine, says it was altered – Manila Bulletin

On April 20, Dr. Jose Maria Avila succumbed to COVID-19. He was 63 years old.
The altered post suggested that the death of Dr. Avila came after getting the two doses of the vaccine given to him. The altered post claimed that he was inoculated with China’s Sinovac vaccine.
The MMC director said that the original post of their colleague in MMC was altered, saying the original post did not contain what type of vaccine was administered to Dr. Avila.
Javier clarified that Dr. Avila only received one dose of a COVID-19 vaccine.
“Dr. Avila received only ONE dose of a vaccine [brand cannot be disclosed]. He has not completed his regimen of two doses,” he said. ....

PCCI honors medical frontliners

The Philippine Chamber of Commerce and Industry (PCCI) led the private sector in recognizing heroes in the medical community during this pandemic via the Gawad Bayaning Kalusugan award that was presented to the initial batch of 24 awardees.

MakatiMed receives 2 international awards for COVID-19 best practices
The Philippine hospital is recognized by the Asian Hospital Management Awards and the International Hospital Federation.
The Philippines’ Makati Medical Center (MakatiMed) has received the Excellence Award for Patient Safety from the 2020 Asian Hospital Management Awards (AHMA) and Special Recognition for the International Hospital Federation (IHF) Beyond the Call of Duty for COVID-19 program.
MakatiMed won the AHMA Excellence Award for its MMC: Beyond Malasakit – the Hospital with a Stronger Heart for best practices in its COVID-19 response.
According to Rose Onilongo, AHMA 2020 Conference Manager, “This year, we received 200 entries from 89 hospitals in 16 countries. Winning the Gold or Excellence awards is recognition that the entry was the most outstanding for this category in the region.” ....

Taiwan-based Filipino worker being penalized for breaking his mandatory quarantine in seconds.
Taiwan’s state-run Central News Agency (CNA) reported on Monday that the migrant worker, who arrived in the self-ruled island last month, was supposed to be quarantined in his hotel room for 14 days. However, he decided to step out of the room on November 13.
The report said that the man left his hotel room for eight seconds “to leave something at the door of another room for a friend who was also in quarantine on the same floor.”
“The man’s actions were caught on surveillance camera, and hotel personnel reported the matter to the health authorities,” the report added, referencing ....
