The country needs more technological advancements than capital investments for faster economic growth, experts said, urging for research that promotes the use of IT in ways beneficial to society.
India should rely more on developing technologies through indigenous means, experts noted at an online summit organised by Kerala Startup Mission to celebrate the National Technology Day.
The day-long ‘Technology Conclave’, held under the aegis of RINK (Research Innovation Network Kerala), also showcased 20 curated products from select research institutions with a view to translating innovation-related knowledge in labs into commercially-viable products and services. ....

Conference to promote startup research collaboration
Kerala Startup Mission is organising an online summit on May 11 to celebrate the National Technology Day with the aim of translating innovative research knowledge in research labs into commercially-viable products and services.
The ‘Technology Conclave’, being held on Tuesday under the aegis of RINK (Research Innovation Network Kerala), seeks to provide recipes for businesses to flourish amid the crisis triggered by a second wave of Covid-19.
Registrations can be made at www.bit.Iy/virtualtechconf.
Organisers said the event, in association with TiE Kerala, is being convened to carry forward the RINK’s efforts to build the state as an innovation-led economy. This is being done with a network of research institutions, proactive government policies, specialized universities and availability of talents, startup culture and investor pool. ....

A Parassala man with a rare disorder, who has been surviving on ventilator support for 13 years, has been offered assistance to meet the huge expenses involved in his health care.
District Collector Navjot Khosa visited the patient, Lijo, and his family members at their rented house on Friday and promised all help. Lijo was issued a ration card (AAY category). Steps have been taken to provide free electricity as the round-the-clock operation of the ventilator results in hefty power bills. Lijo has also been promised a house under the LIFE Mission scheme, the district administration said in a statement. ....
