Odisha CM urges PM for establishment of international airport at Puri | Bhubaneswar News

BHUBANESWAR: Chief minister Naveen Patnaik on Friday urged Prime Minister Narendra Modi to ask the ministry of civil aviation to establish an international airport at Puri, which is located just 60km from Biju Patnaik International Airport in Bhubaneswar.
Naveen requested to name the proposed airport as Sri Jagannath International Airport. In a letter to Modi, Naveen cited several reasons for establishing an international airport in Puri. Naveen said Puri has the potential to become a hub of spiritual, international tourism and economic activities.
“Puri is one of the four holy dhams in the country. The world famous Rath Yatra of Jagannath temple at Puri attracts lakhs of pilgrims and visitors from across the globe every year. The holy Rath Yatra is celebrated across 192 countries. The proposed international airport will help bring devotees from across the world to Puri and promote Jagannath culture globally,” Naveen’s letter said. ....

Bhubaneswar (Odisha) [India], January 1 (ANI): Odisha Chief Minister Naveen Patnaik on Friday wrote a letter to Prime Minister Narendra Modi proposing an international airport at the holy city of Puri in the state.
We propose that an international airport be established at Puri in the name of Sri Jagannath International Airport. The state government has identified land at Puri for the proposed airport and will proactively support all the activities required for establishing the airport in a record time. I request that the Ministry of Civil Aviation may be asked to take up this airport as a priority project, the CM wrote in his letter. ....

Bhubaneswar: Odisha Chief Minister Naveen Patnaik Friday wrote to Prime Minister Narendra Modi, requesting him to establish Sri Jagannath International Airport in Puri to meet the growing international travel demands of tourists.
In a letter to the Prime Minister, CM Patnaik wrote, “The holy city of Puri, abode of Lord Jagannath, is among the ‘Char Dhams’ of Hindu Dharma. Hindus, from all over the world, visit Sri Jagannath Temple at Puri.”
“The Sun Temple of Konark, a UNESCO World Heritage Site, is just 35 kms away from Puri and along with the adjacent Ramachandi-Chandrabhaga beaches provides a unique experience to national and international tourists,” he added. ....

Odisha Chief Minister Naveen Patnaik on Friday requested Prime Minister Narendra Modi to establish an international airport at Puri.
In a letter to the Prime Minister, Patnaik urged him to ask the Ministry of Civil Aviation to take up the airport project on priority.
He proposed that the international airport be named Sri Jagannath International Airport.
Patnaik said the proposed airport would help bring Lord Jagannath devotees from across the world to Puri.
