In December 2020, Good Life X announced its partnership with the Sri Lanka Tourism Alliance, initiating the ‘Grants for Tourism Resilience’ programme for SMEs in the tourism industry. An initiative supported by GIZ - SME Sector Development Programme Sri Lanka in cooperation with the Noah Foundation in Berlin, on behalf of the German Federal Ministry for Economic Cooperation and Development (BMZ) to support SMEs navigate the challenging economic environment brought on by the current global crisis.
An online session was held in collaboration with the two parties to announce the grant opportunity to potential SMEs and to outline the selection criteria. GoodLife X in partnership with Sri Lanka Tourism Alliance has come forward to assist the tourism sector by initiating the ‘Grants for Tourism Resilience” program for SMEs in the tourism industry.
This program guides SMEs in successfully navigating the changing environment and adapting to new markets by identifying and leveraging opportunities brought on by the current global crisis. At the virtual information session held recently, Co-Chair of Sri Lanka Tourism Alliance, Malik J. Fernando, said, “We have partnered with GoodLife X because we want to support sustainable ideas that helps your business innovate, grow and build back better. GoodLife X (GLX) started its journey in 2018 after identifying that existing support activities and business development programmes for start-ups were heavily focused on pure tech solutions.
GLX focuses on start-ups and SME (and/or tech-enabled) business models that can shape consumer behaviour and make significant contributions to solve ecological and social challenges, stemming from food and agriculture, wellness and travel, design, and energy sectors in Sri Lanka.
Programme Director Randhula de Silva further emphasised that, “Most activities catering to the development of these sectors were in need of a serious paradigm shift.
