Members of Slough's homeless community offered Covid-19 vaccine

Members of the homesless community in Slough have been offered coronavirus vaccinations from a mobile unit on the High Street.
The jabs were offered by homelessness charity Slough Outreach who teamed up with the Health and Wellbeing Slough partnership.
The jabs were offered to those living on the streets or in emergency accommodation.
Lateral flow tests were also offered to members of the community who may be carrying the virus.
Founder of Slough Outreach Shin Dhother said: Slough Outreach responds to the needs our most vulnerable and less fortunate in the community.
Volunteers deliver daily food parcels containing hot food, snacks and essentials kindly donated by the community. We also hold daily Outreach sessions (soup kitchen) on the streets in Slough, Windsor and Maidenhead. ....

Slough school pupils' Christmas gifts to the homeless

The spirit of Christmas is alive and well at Eden Girls’ School, Slough where pupils, parents and staff have been working to make a better Christmas for people most in need.
Students at the school in Bath Road organised collections and a range of activities as part of their annual Festive Winter Gift Programme.
The school has been filled with collections of food and warm clothing donated to help the homeless. Parents also paid for new items of clothing specially requested by Slough Outreach and Connection Support.
Staff and pupils at the school worked together to create hampers filled with treats that would bring comfort to people experiencing hardship over the winter season. ....

Slough Ahmadiyya Muslims' food donations at Christmas

Members of the Ahmadiyya Muslim Community Slough donated meal starter packs in the run up to Christmas to help those in need.
The starter packs fall under the National Ahmadiyya Muslim Community Cheap & Easy Cooking campaign that aims to provide ready to cook meals in pre- packed boxes with recipe books.
The meals were handed to Slough Outreach who distributed them to those in need.
The Ahmadiyya women’s auxiliary also donated hats, gloves and scarves for the homeless.
Ahmadiyya president Atiq Ahmad Bhatti said: “As Muslims, service to humanity is our duty and given the challenge of food poverty the campaign aims to make tasty and healthy meals more accessible to those in need during this Christmas period. We will continue to do our utmost to help support the vulnerable in these times of great need.” ....
