SUKKUR: The Sindh Minister for Tourism and Culture Syed Sardar Shah has said the government has decided to preserve the ‘historical heritage’.
While talking to media persons on the occasion of inauguration of a museum at the Makhi House, the Sindh minister said the culture department had to preserve 3,300 historical buildings, but due to lack of funds, the restoration process was delayed. He said the masterpiece ‘Makhi House’, was built by two brothers, Jetha Nand and Gobind Ram in 1920 under the name of Dharma Bee.
Sardar Shah said the federal government has set up the Heritage Ministry, but not a single federal official had yet visited Taxila, Harappa, Moin-jo-Daro and other historical places in Sindh. He added that the restoration of Pakka Qila would take time as a large number of population was living there and the government needed money and resources to relocate them. Mumbai, Jul 11 (IANS): A Maharashtra archaeologist may have hit a jackpot by discovering several potteries and artefacts, dating back to the later era of the Indus Valley Civilization (IVC), at Yawal in Jalgaon district.
The finds are mainly big and small pieces of pottery and vessels, depicting Harappan-style pictographical scripts that excited the discovery team led by Bhujang R. Bobade, Director, Heritage Foundation.
We found the pottery pieces in the white mounds near the entrance of the Nimbalkar Fortress, around 20 km from Bhusaval. It s a virgin territory, hitherto unexplored by any archaeologist, an enthusiastic Bobade told IANS from the site. ....
