Empowering survivors through anonymous art exhibit

An art exhibit featuring anonymous art from survivors of sexual assault is on display at the Clausen Museum in Petersburg. It’s called “Art by Survivors for Survivors” and is a joint effort between WAVE Working Against Violence for Everyone and the museum.
Hillary Hunter works with WAVE. She met up with KFSK’s Angela Denning at the museum to explain the details of the show. She says April seems like the right time for the exhibit because it is sexual assault awareness month. ....

th, is International Women’s Day. The U.S. began recognizing the holiday in recent years but many other countries have been celebrating it for decades. In Petersburg, Working Against Violence for Everyone or WAVE is bringing the holiday to light this year as an opportunity for the community to come together. KFSK’s Angela Denning has more:

Photographer and painter Hillary Hunter opens a show of new works at Firelight Gallery in Petersburg Friday, December 11, 2020.
It’s her second solo show. Her first was two years and featured work from her two-year stint in the Peace Corps in Madagascar. But this month she’ll be showing photographs and paintings from this area. Joe Viechnicki spoke with her about the latest work. ....
