Established in 1996, the Advanced Informatics School (AIS) formerly known as the Centre for Advanced Software Engineering (CASE) started as a collaboration project between Universiti Teknologi Malaysia and Université Thales (formerly known as Campus Thomson), France.. . In 2003, CASE became the first academic institution in Malaysia to offer Master of Computer Science (Information Security).. . To provide added value to the master programs, CASE has appointed many distinguish professors and speakers from highly established universities as the Visiting Professors and be part of the teaching team. Some of the professors are :. . - Prof. Fred Piper & Prof. Keith Martin, Royal Holloway, University of London. - Prof. Bob Colomb, University of Queensland, Australia. - Dr Jensen, Microsoft USA. - Prof. Jorge Diaz Herrera, Rochester Institute of Technologi, USA. - Prof. Dromey,Griffith Univeristy, Australia. - Prof. Lorna Uden, Staffordshire University, UK. . Beginning in 2007, CASE began to develop its Ph.D programs and currently, there are more than 30 Ph.D students, undergoing intensive research activities in the field of Software Engineering & Information Security.. . In 2008, Universiti Teknologi Malaysia initiated its transformation process which would take UTM to be one of the best universities in Malaysia and would be able to stand proud in the international community.
