Detailed description is CoderDojo is an Irish led, global movement of coding clubs for young people. Come learn or teach to code, hack, develop websites, apps, games CoderDojo Arklow is a coding club where the students (aged 7-17) work with a group of technical mentors to learn more about building websites, developing computer games and writing computer software using many different technologies. Our mentors are IT and Engineering professionals, educators, parents, and students, who have a passion for technology and want to share that with the kids.. . Students are encouraged to build on their knowledge and experiment at home between sessions.. . CoderDojo Arklow is entirely free to join, limited only by the number of places we can provide.. . We run on Saturday from 11-12.30 during school term in Arklow CBS, who kindly donate their premises to us.. . The number of students can we cater for depends on the availability of volunteer mentors, so we cannot guarantee a place to everyone who wants one, but we will do our best.. . CoderDojo aims to be a fun, engaging way to make new friends who share an interest in computing and technology, learn new things, and explore how to create using computers.. . Important information before attending a Session. . Attending a session as a student, please note the following:. . • Each student must bring along a laptop that is WiFi enabled. You must have the necessary admin rights to that laptop to allow software to be installed and network access to be configured.. . • For students under 12, an accompanying parent MUST stay for the duration of the Dojo session. This is something we cannot be flexible about . . • Please download and install this software on the laptop before attending your first session:. . • Google Chrome (https://www.google.com/intl/en/chrome/browser/). . • Scratch (http://scratch.mit.edu/).. . • And finally, create a folder on your desktop called CoderDojo, where you can save all of your work.. . • Above all, be cool !.
