The Department of Computer Science has been established in 2005, with a diploma course of one-year duration, and a three-year undergraduate course, Bachelor of Computer Applications (BCA). . . The first batch of the BCA programme is completing the second year, and the third year is starting from the next academic session (July, 2007).. . . It has been a long dream for the University and the state community to have access to higher education in the emerging fields of technology such as computer engineering and information technology etc. Human Resource development in these emerging areas not only boosts the local capacity building efforts, but also enhances potentiality of exporting local human resources outside the region.. . Keeping in view of producing efficient and skilled manpower in such areas, the department presently offers two full time programs - M.Tech. in Computer Science and Engineering and a Bachelor of Computer Applications (BCA).. . The department is equipped with all modern and up-to-date technical infrastructure including high-end IBM servers, one-to-one computing terminals, Classrooms with Interactive White Boards, Virtual Class room, separate laboratory for each batch, structured Local Area Networks, Latest Software, Digital System lab etc. 30 KVA standby power backup facility to ensure uninterrupted power supply, a departmental library with minimum 10 copies of all the text and reference books for the departmental courses and sufficient reference and advanced volumes are special attractions of the department. All the computers are with high speed internet connectivity for round the clock. The Department is establishing Network simulation lab, Mobile Application Development Lab, JAVA labs with Sun servers, DBMS lab with Oracle, and these will be ready by the end of July, 2007.. . . .
