Detailed description is "Boom Shankar Project" is about collaboration of musicians with different Background and influences of music from India and around. .Rishabh Shankar is a self taught singer and instrumentalist as well as composer and song writer, learning many instruments from around the world, majorly influenced with Sufi and folk singing. Major Influences include bands like Tinariwan, Ali Farka Toure , Dhaffer ussaf and Led Zepplin' which can feasily be seen in his style of singing and playing guitar. His compositions amalgamates Sufi poetry and mantras with Turkish, Persian, African and Indian classical influences. An acoustic guitar which sounds more like ethnic, Middle Eastern and folk sound. He plays many instruments like Guitar, sitar, oud, saz and rabab and also plays as a session musician with other bands and studio. . . Ashwani Baisoya is learning from the age of 8 years. Trained in Indian classical gandharva mahavidyalaya and sufi music from Patiala gharana, he has learned from many gurus like padmashri Pt. Madhup Mudgal ji and then Surender Khan sahib (Punjab) and Rizwan Mohzam Ali Khan(Pakistan). He also plays harmonium and melodica.. . Subhankar chetterji started music from the age of 5years and start played percussion on table as his main instrument. He was Born in Kolkata and moved to Delhi at a very young stage. He got his formal training in music from Mr. ARUNAVA CHANDRA and Gandharva Mahavidyalaya. Now he also plays other percussion instruments like Djembe, Madal, Tambourine, Derbuka, Tumbe, Drums, Kejon, Iranian Duff to name a few, though there are many more. . . He has worked as a Percussion and Music teacher in various schools and institutes in Delhi.. . Chandan Bisht is the only professional didgeridoo player in Delhi. Didgeridoo is a rare instrument from tribal people of northern Australia and is still in widespread use today both in Australia and around the world. He has been playing it from many years and with lot of musicians and bands from around the world. He is very prominent musician in world music seen in India. "Boom Shankar Project" is about collaboration of musicians with different Background and influences of music from India and around the globe exploring a new sound of world music. . . We are based out of Delhi and was founded by Rishabh Shankar in 2012. Since then we are actively playing in Delhi music circuit as well as other cities like chandigarh, jaipur agra to guwahati dibrugarh in east india to goa, mumbai, bangalore, chennai trivandrum cochin in south of india. . . We don't play with set patterns but rather go with the flow and every time we create something different on Stage. It’s more like finding our own space in this musical world and sound. . . Our roots and influences of music varies from different form of Sufi and folk music from across the world and times, soulful music like Bhatiayali, Baul and Persian and Turkish. Indian classical music has always been in our blood and of course rock, jazz n blues because all of us are from a different background of music. In our lyrics we use Hindi and Urdu both and also using the poetry of Sufi poets like Hazrat Amir Khusro, Baba Bullah Shah and Baba Fareed. We are deeply influenced by the Rudrarupa of Lord Shiva, Sanskrit verses, Buddhist chats and poetry of Rumi which has inspired us to create and identity our unique sound.
