Detailed description is Gio Compario - star of the Go Compare adverts.Gio Compario was born on 6th November 1974 in Giovinazzo, a port city in southern Italy. As the youngest of 18 children, and his parents’ only son, Gio would spend a lot of his time at home, helping the ladies of the house prepare food, and carry out household chores, singing while he worked to keep everyone entertained.. . It was clear from birth that Gio would be different: as well as displaying the signs of becoming a musical genius from an early age, Gio is the only baby in recorded history to be born with a full and immaculately coiffed moustache. Whilst his appearance was never questioned by his family, his peers would not be so accepting. Sadly, the young boy would suffer at the hands of his classmates who would jeer and torment Gio about his facial hair. As a result, Gio would prefer to spend his time at home, in the comforting surroundings of the family home.. . Gio’s many sisters should be credited for helping him to nurture his rare musical talent. As a child, Gio showed a natural flair for all things musical and from an early age he mastered a number of musical instruments including the violin and the glockenspiel. Gio’s musical talents became almost legendary throughout the Giovinazzo region and his unique rendition of “Killing me Softly” on the kazoo has been known to move many tourists to tears. However, whilst proving that his musical talents know no boundaries, it was to be Gio’s voice that would be his real musical instrument. . . One day, while scrubbing the steps outside his parents’ house, Gio was approached by a man who had heard his dulcet tones from the other side of the city. The man, Giuseppe Claudio Antonio Alberto Luigi Frederico Leonardo Tagliatelle, was a talent scout from the MAFIA (Make-believe Association of Famous Italian Artists) and he promised big things for Gio – he could see Gio as the fourth Tenor. . . In order to realise his dream, and under the instruction of Giuseppe, Gio moved to London. At the time, Punk was passé and House was for has-beens – the British youth were opera-crazy, with posters of Placido Domingo plastered on bedroom walls, and Andrea Bocelli pencil cases flying off the shelves. Gio, a young, red-blooded Italian, quickly landed leading roles in Rigoletto, Little Vixen and Tosca, to name but a few. He quickly got swept up in the hedonism of the time and, sadly, his operatic career soon became overshadowed by his personal life. Following a string of unsuccessful relationships with famous supermodels and a failed attempt to bring Moog music to the mainstream, Gio left the industry to do a little soul-searching. . . One day, while sitting in a Soho café, Gio was asked directions by some Norwegian back-packers. They were twins. Gio looked at them both and noticed that one was slightly taller, the other’s eyes were a darker shade of blue, one of them had a left foot that was slightly bigger than the right and one had a beard that grew much faster than the other’s. It was then that it hit him – he had a knack for spotting subtle differences in things that, for all intents and purposes, were the same. . . Although he didn’t discover his talent for comparing things until later in life, Gio had always demonstrated a penchant for comparing things, according to his old rugby team mate Mario Calzone: “When we were in the under 18s rugby team, back in Italy, Gio was always comparing things in the showers after the match! We got used to it after a while, but the guys from the other teams didn’t like it too much!”. Upon discovering this rare talent for making accurate comparisons, Gio was inspired! His singing career started to take off again and he was able to use this new-found clarity take his voice beyond the conventional. Guiseppe briefly describes this point in Gio’s career: “Gio’s voice is quite unlike anything that I have ever heard before, it travels beyond lyrics. This is not something you learn, but something you are given by the Gods. His dramatic colour and ability to carry even the heaviest of orchestral melodies can only be achieved through real heartache, something that Gio has been familiar with on more than one occasion.”. . It was at this point in Gio’s career that he broke the world record for holding a musical note for six minutes and 34 seconds, beating the former record by a full three minutes! The singer took the pain and heartache that he experienced during his dark years of soul searching and used it to power his voice. The result: Gio’s distinctive high note. A note that has been known to crack the toughest of glass, melt the coldest of hearts and, rumour has it, unhook a number of bra straps. . . Little did Gio know that soon he’d find a website that would change his life forever…
