Detailed description is Building a large format photographic essay and oral history of what it means to be working in the woods in the 21st century.. We have an abundance of images and publications about the "glory days of logging" (ie. up to the late 1930s). Contemporary images of the industry are almost entirely about its negative, destructive aspects. . There is, undeniably, controversy around the forest industry and its practices. Very little exists, in the public imagination, about how the industry has changed to address environmental and sustainability issues. At the same time, the industry remains a place where men and women work to build not only their own paycheques and company profits, but a standard of living that the rest of us in BC enjoy. . . This book is about these people, the work they do in the primary economic activity in our region, and how it has changed in the past 25 years. It will show the industry and the men and women who work in it through the cycles of planning and engineering and harvesting old growth forests, through planting and stand management, cycling through the same stages with 2nd growth, and ending with 3rd growth stands.
Established in the recent years Working in the Woods Today - a book project in south-andaman, andaman-and-nicobar-islands in india.
