Detailed description is A project that melds jazz improv and conducted orchestration, composer Aaron Kerr utilizes structured grooves to set the framework for solo exploration. Aaron Kerr's Dissonant Creatures is the brainchild of cellist and composer Aaron Kerr. Aaron released his debut solo cello CD, "Arco 71" in 2006 and was awarded a 2006 McKnight Foundation Fellowship for the compositions on the album. Aaron released his second album, "Dissonant Creatures", in 2009 and worked closely with band mates Tyson Allison (Heavy Pedal Cello, Swallows) and Jeff Crandall (J. Briozo, Swallows) on arrangements and production. During the summer of 2009, Aaron took a new set and an improvisational band concept on the road and, in the process, Aaron Kerr's Dissonant Creatures was born. A live EP of this adventure was recorded during the tour and was released as "Scorpio Rising: Live at the Picador" in 2009. Aaron has lent his compositional and performance skills to several bands and recording artists over the years, including Anahada Nada, The Semiconductor Orchestra, Mellow Drunk, The Sleeper Pins, JazZen, Michael Campbell, Thinland, Leigh Gregory, and The Urban Hillbilly Quartet. Aaron’s work has also been featured in several theater productions, including "Passage" by Edward Bok Lee, "Vincent", a dance production by Decadance, and "We", an adaptation of the novel by Yevgeny Zamyatin. In 1999, The American Composer’s Forum awarded Aaron with a New Music Series grant. Aaron Kerr's Dissonant Creatures lineup currently features Aaron Kerr (cello, electric cello, piano), Justin DeLeon (drums), Brett Hansen (guitar), Matt Kanive (bass), Jeff Crandall (guitar), Toni Tinetti (cello), and Mike Nordby (mandolin, percussion).
