The company had recently firmed up its position in regards to HSPD-12 integration, a skill set that Diebold executives indicated was very attractive. . Actcom is a known leader in the HSPD-12/FIPS 201 solution environment, said V. John Stroia, vice president of government monitoring solutions for Diebold Global Security, in a statement announcing the acquisition. The company’s active involvement in the fast-moving identification and security technology arena will enable Diebold to bolster its participation in these new programs and offer an immediate response to the growing demands of the government marketplace." . Stroia added that Actcom's HSPD-12/FIPS 201 expertise was "vital to the growth of our government division," coming right at the start of what promises to be a very busy season of completing pilot projects so that government agencies can meet the Oct. 27 HSPD-12 deadline. . Actcom brings locations in Virginia Beach, Va., Washington, D.C., and Jupiter, Fla., to Diebold, and reportedly has about 50 electronic security and identity systems experts on staff.
