Detailed description is Advanced Brain and Spine is dedicated to the treatment of brain and spine disorders. Advanced Brain and Spine is dedicated to the treatment of brain and spine disorders. We try to find the best treatment course for every patient. When it comes to surgical treatment, we are strong believers in doing as little as possible to affect the best result. We think less surgery is a good thing. We believe in minimally invasive techniques when we are able to use them. We are constantly introducing and supporting minimally invasive endoscopic techniques for both the brain and spine. We are dedicated to continuously updating and perfecting our methods. Minimally invasive techniques also allow us to perform surgeries with better and quicker patient outcomes. Our patients go home sooner and have less pain.. . When it comes to disorders of the brain minimally invasive techniques such as coiling of aneurysms have been proven time and again to be superior to traditional methods. While we take pride in being able to provide the most minimally invasive techniques to our patients, we also recognize when those disorders are best treated with other techniques. Our providers are board certified. . . Dr. Itay Melamed is our main neurosurgeon at Advanced Brain and Spine. Dr. Melamed is a Board Certified neurosurgeon specializing in any surgical conditions of the brain, spine and peripheral nerves. Dr. Melamed is the founding neurosurgeon of Advanced Brain & Spine, a top physician led group providing neurosurgical care to the Denver and Colorado community.. Dr. Melamed attended medical school in Denver. He then completed his neurosurgery residency at the University of Missouri in Columbia. During his residency Dr. Melamed had additional training with Orthopaedic spine surgeons. This helps Dr. Melamed view the spine from many different perspectives, since he was trained as a neurosurgeon and also with orthopaedic spine surgeons. During this time he also helped establish a vascular microsurgery workshop at his residency. During his residency Dr. Melamed had additional training in Indiana where he spent 9 months with Dr. Troy Payner. During this time he learned techniques to manage skull base and vascular surgical cases. Dr. Melamed then completed a two year endovascular surgical neuroradiology fellowship with the Indianapolis Neurosurgical Group.. . All this additional training allows Dr. Melamed to perform minimally invasive procedures, through catheters, to manage most vascular issues in his patients. In fact Dr. Melamed is the only private practice physician in Denver who is capable of performing both open surgical cases and minimally invasive endovascular cases. We believe that this additional training allows Dr. Melamed to better treat vascular patients.. . Following his fellowship, Dr. Melamed stayed with the Goodman Campbell Brain and Spine (formerly Indianapolis Neurosurgical Group). Dr. Melamed also served as an Assistant Associate Professor at the IU school of Medicine. During that time Dr. Melamed performed a variety of cases to include vascular, endovascular, brain tumor treatments, radiosurgical treatments, peripheral nerve cases, minimally invasive spine cases among others. In May of 2011 Dr. Melamed decided to leave Goodman Campbell and return to Colorado so he could be closer to his family, and start a neurogeon led practice: Advanced Brain and Spine.. . .
