The Library Foundation got its start with some donated gifts in the early 1990s. These gifts were auctioned off and the proceeds were invested in conservative financial portfolio. The Foundation board manages this fund and is integrally involved in the planning and promoting of the new library facility scheduled to break ground in 2016. The Foundation also manages the "Friends" program. Annual membership in this program helps the library attract national, best selling authors for visits, and helps with technological needs beyond the city's budget when necessary.
