Detailed description is Notre Association, fondée en octobre 1999, à comme principal objectif la protection du lac Castonguay. Le site du Lac Castonguay constitue un excellent habitat pour les oiseaux, tant aquatiques que terrestres, et est un site de nidification pour plusieurs espèces. L'on retrouve aussi à cet endroit une bonne variété de plantes sauvages, sans oublier les petits mammifères et les batraciens. Comme vous pouvez le constater, il y a une bonne biodiversité et il est primordial de la protéger. Les milieux humides(1), comme celui-ci entre autre, sont très productifs et essentiels pour un grand nombre d'espèces qui ont choisi de les habiter.. Les principaux objectifs de notre Association sont : veiller à la protection de ce site et le conserver à son état le plus naturel possible - le rendre accessible au public (avec certaines restrictions) en y faisant les aménagements nécessaires - en faire un lieu où les gens pourront venir y pratiquer des activités basées principalement sur l'observation des oiseaux , la photographie et l'activité physique. Compte tenu que le lac Castonguay n'est pas public et qu'il est entouré de propriétés privées, pour en arriver à réaliser ce beau projet, qui est déjà appuyé par plusieurs personnes, dont entre autres des biologistes, il faut avant tout obtenir des droits de passage piétonnier de la part des propriétaires fonciers. . . Nous voulons sauvegarder et conserver ce patrimoine écologique par des plans de conservation et de mise en valeur..
