Aunty’s Child Care is a step above your average in-home daycare because not only do I provide quality care, work with a nutrition program to ensure that your child is offered balanced and healthful meals; keep a substitute caregiver on standby in case of personal illness, and the first floor apartment of my duplex is specially designed solely to provide child care! The walls are painted with fun characters including a giant Dora the Explorer with Boots, Scooby Do, Blue’s Clues, Spongebob, Nemo, and many more, and this clean and fun atmosphere is also safe as the only focus is taking care of children. It is also super safe as I don’t even keep cleaning supplies etc in the daycare at all, each and every room has an emergency exit, and my 100% fenced in yard is nice and big for playing!. I also have a daily schedule to add structure and balance to your child’s day, and I fill the hours not with TV but with arts & crafts, educational flash cards, games, puzzles, music and dancing, story time, and toy time. Behavior and social skills are our primary focus including appropriately expressing feelings and needs including using words when upset, playing well with other children, following directions, respecting our own and each other's bodies and personal space, taking turns, sharing, cleaning up, and paying attention to tasks. These are the primary goals of kindergarten, so we strive to give the kids a good pre-k foundation here. We also work on fine motor skills by incorporating a variety of activities that utilize crayons, pencils, markers, safety scissors, puzzles, games and more. We have learning time daily and focus on nutrition, sign language, reading, ABC's, identifying rhyming words, sorting objects by color and size, recognizes and often writing one's own name, understanding concepts of first and last, numbers and word sounds including reading sight words, and gross motor skills such as running, jumping, walking backwards, etc. We help a lot with potty training and teach the kiddos how to take care of their own bathroom needs early on. We bake and cook with the kids present and they participate whenever they can do so safely so that they can understand how food is prepared and nourishes our bodies, and we garden in the summer. We play outside whenever possible (weather permitting). There are no TV programs on ever, and we allow movies at select times like for special occasions like pajama party day, or at quiet time when we are waiting for the rest of the kids to wake up from their naps. We cook only healthy, nutritious foods and don't serve 'junk' food or sugary foods as nutrition is an extremely important part of a young person's development.
