I am the sole owner of Bare Mountain Contractors LLC, certified as a Woman Owned Small Business. I have over 15 years experience in the construction industry.. I have been the support system, a behind the scenes go to person, and have made my former employers company successful. I decided instead of all the long hours and full dedication making another company successful, that it was time to start my own business. . Not being able to find a job myself, and after talking to others, I found them to be out of work as well. I started a cabinet installation business In Oct of 2011. . . How it all started. . A friend and I were sitting around talking about finding work. He suggested doing cabinet installation for commercial and residential buildings. He said he had friends that also were in the cabinet trade but, have not found work. He has over 20 years of experience in everything from design, cutting ,building and installing. He is what’s called a Master Cabinet Maker in his trade. His fellow friends are also considered Master Cabinet Makers.. As we talked, he expressed that all that was needed is a business license, insurance and a contractor’s license. Having always saved for a rainy day myself, I gave it some serious thought.. I knew I could find work if I put my mind to it. What did I have to lose? I had worked up until the recession started 2009. People I had worked for had laid people off and hired their family members instead. Some business’s I had worked for in the past just closed up all together. Things seemed so ever bleak everywhere.. It took awhile to get things off the ground. I did the bidding on jobs and a few things came in. They were not by any means big jobs just small stuff but it was work. I kept getting asked if,”We could MAKE the CABINETS”. I had to say NO! What a horrible word to have to say to a BIG Commercial Contractor. They all said when you start building cabinets let us know. Right now, I work out of my apartment doing all the bidding for cabinet installation. I have insurance, a business license and a contractor’s license. I just need to be able to open up a real Cabinet Shop. In order to do this I need some help.. . The men that work for me now, are all married with families of their own to support.. Opening a cabinet making business would enable us to produce more income. Right now, the cabinet installation is very slow. We have to depend upon cabinet shops that need some help with installation. Most of them do the installation work themselves leaving us with little or no work.. I would need additional employees.
