Ans: Born in Timmins, Ontario on March 25, 1927, Bill Barilko was a popular defenceman with the Toronto Maple Leafs from 1946-47 to 1950-51. In that time, the Leafs won the Cup on four occasions. The last, at 2:53 of the first overtime period on April 21, 1951, won the Stanley Cup for Toronto. It was also the last goal Barilko would ever score. He disappeared during a fishing trip -- without a trace. Later, it was discovered that Bill had died when the plane in which he was a passenger crashed in the forests just north of Cochrane on August 26, 1951. His body wasn't discovered until11 years later, on June 6, 1962, his skeletal remains still strapped into the fusilage of the small plane. That same year, Toronto won the Stanley Cup...for the first time since Bill's dramatic overtime goal in 1951.
