In c. 1979 I started importing and selling Blumats for speciality crops in my N. California retail stores - Open Circle in Humboldt county and Real Goods in Mendocino. In those days, there was only one product.. . Since then, the line has greatly expanded and improved. We started selling the Blumats for indoor plants to nurseries and garden shops. The Tropf (tropf is Austrian for drip) Blumat has become the ideal watering method for growing in greenhouses, on decks and in planter boxes, as well as for certain kinds of outdoor plants. . . Blumats work like using a timer but don't have the timer disadvantage of over-watering when weather conditions change or under-watering when plant conditions change. They sense the soil moisture level and based on that supply more or less water. . . Until recently, we've only been offering wholesale discounts for the indoor Blumats. Our volume has increased enough now though and we can give wholesale discounts for all the different kinds of Blumat kits and components. And offer better retail prices to everyone!. .
