Playing the piano is my favorite hobby, and is something that I am confident anyone can do! So if you are interested in learning, or know someone who might be, please continue to look through!. . Since I am just starting off, I will accept a limited number of students between ages 8 and 18. If you have never touched the piano, consider yourself my ideal beginning student. Each lesson is 30 minutes in duration and will take place in the comfort of the living room of my house. My beginning cost per lesson will be $12.. . I will be able to teach lessons until at least after graduation, and then I will be leaving to serve a mission for my church. Though I cannot stay for more than a year, I am motivated even more to maximize the time I give in each lesson, and make sure that my student improves with each lesson.. . My plan is to provide music to practice from a method book every week (even from the first week, in which I will get to break the ice with the student if I have not met them), use some time in the lesson to introduce music for the following week and play through music from the previous week to pass it off, but the music will gradually increase in difficulty. I will use the time in class that I don't use for playing songs for mental exercises related to playing the piano for the sole purpose of being able to sight-read. Every person who learns to play piano tends to experience many frustrating stints in progress because they struggle to play a song at a first look of the music. My philosophy is that if I dedicate just a little bit of time every lesson to some music theory drilling and some sight reading practice, the student can eventually dedicate less and less time to learning music and be more apt to play increasingly difficult pieces. I promise that this time will be to the benefit of both teacher and student.. .
