Detailed description is Brandeis Global Medical Brigades is a student run non-profit organization founded in 2011 at Brandeis University. Brandeis Global Medical Brigades was founded in 2011 at Brandeis University and represents a student run chapter of the national organization of Global Brigades. Our mission is to improve the quality of life in underprivileged and impoverished areas in Central America. To achieve this goal our group has been organizing annual clinic trips to rural areas of Honduras to provide health care and sustainable preventative health education. . . The national organization of Global Brigades was founded in 2004 and works towards sustainable holistic community development in Honduras, Nicaragua, Panama, and most recently Ghana. Originally serving to provide clinical health care in Honduras alone, the national organization of Global Brigades has branched out to offer 9 different programs in community development. These programs offered in the countries listed above are performed by over 12,000 student volunteers and employees, based out of more than 300 different university chapters in the US, Canada, and Europe.
