Detailed description is We raise pigs, beef cattle, and layer chickens. All animals are holistically raised outside with the freedom to express natural behaviors. Butternut Hollow Farm was started in 2012 by myself, Sierra, and my partner Ephraim. We started in the Northeast Kingdom of Vermont, but in the fall of 2013 moved to Starksboro, Vermont. All of our animals are raised on a forage based diet, which means they eat a wide variety foods including grasses, vegetables, wild nuts and fruits, and grain. Our pastures are full of grasses, clover, field peas, buckwheat, corn, dandelions, and many other forages (wild and planted). All of our livestock also eat a large variety of fruits and vegetables from our farm gardens and small local businesses. Our pigs and cattle have 24 hour, 7 days a week free outdoor access to feed, water, fresh air, and to express their natural behaviors.
