Detailed description is Capitol Skills and Development is dedicated to improving athlete's skill level. Our focus is to improve offense, defense, and leadership qualities. Capitol Skills and Development is a business dedicated to improving an athlete's overall skill ability in the areas of offense, defense, mental toughness, and leadership. It is important to me to not only improve their skill, but improve their value to their team by helping them in areas that will contribute to their role in their program.. I have many years of experience playing under, coaching with, and learning from other coaches who are well respected at high school, college, and professional levels. These include Bob Hilmer, Iowa’s all-time winningest high school boys’ basketball coach and Iowa Basketball Hall of Famer; Ray Shovlain, St. Ambrose University Head Men’s Basketball Coach with over 590 career wins; Shamus Budde, North Scott Head Boys’ Basketball and State Champion Coach; Matt Woodley, former Washington State University Assistant Coach, former Waukee High School Boys’ Basketball Coach, former Truman State University Head Coach, and current Iowa Energy Head Coach; and Justin Ohl, former Drake University Assistant and current Waukee High School Head Boys’ Basketball Coach.. I’ve coached at both the AAU and 4A high school levels of basketball. I’ve been a part of 3 Iowa High School Boys State Tournaments. As a coach, I’ve trained multiple young athletes who have and are currently playing Division I and II sports.. Through my experience, I’ve learned that fundamental defensive skills and mental toughness, in addition to efficient offensive skills, are what make a successful basketball player. I have also gained the ability to identify areas of weakness and quickly implement changes and practices that improve a player’s skill. .
