Detailed description is My mission is to provide families with memorial casts of their children who have courageously battled and fallen to childhood cancer or other illnesses On March 14, 2016 I was contacted by a friend of the Kinkin family who asked if I could make lifecast sculptures of the family's hands because their four-year-old boy, Logan, was dying of a horrendous, little known disease call DIPG: Diffuse Intrinsic Pontine Glioma. When he was diagnosed out of nowhere in late January he was given 6 months to 1 year to live. Sadly, he lived a mere 7 weeks and died the morning of March 20, 2016. I arrived a few hours after his death and made molds of his face, hands, and feet as well as molds of his mom, dad, and sister's hands.. . After pouring the original mold, I refined Logan's face and added his signature hair, then I produced coldcast bronze casts of his face & hands as well as a lifecast sculpture of the family's hands together as a representation of their family as a whole. . . Logan parent's have shared with me how having the casts of him have been an important piece in their ability to cope with his death. That gives me the desire to provide this service to other families in similar situations. Even though I didn't meet Logan until a few hours after he had died, his life and spirit have touched me profoundly and has inspired me to do this work as his legacy.. .
