Detailed description is Charlie's is in a 1850's historical home located just off the square in historic downtown Marshall, Texas. Food provided by The Blue Frog! Magnolia Hall ( originally - The Pierce Home) is a New Orleans style " Raised Cottage" designed by W.R.D. Ward built circa 1850. Colonel John H. Lee purchased the property in 1865 and sold it to his daughter Anna E. Pierce (nee Lee) in 1869 two years after her marriage to John L. Pierce The Pierce home remained in the family until the last remaining descendant's death in 1961. Hope Pierce Tartt (Anna's daughter) bequeathed the home to First Methodist Church. The Old Pierce home was purchased in 1966 by Eunice and Emory Elder. During the Elders ownership the home went thru its first restoration on the top floor and renovation to the ground floor. The Elders named their home Magnolia Hall after the large Magnolia trees on the property and also had the home listed as a Texas Historic Landmark in 1968. In 2010 the Zachry family purchased the property and Magnolia Hall was once again receiving an exterior and interior restoration. The ground floor of the home has been repurposed into Charlie's BackYard Bar. On October 29, 2011 The Zachry family officially opened Charlie's BackYard Bar. Magnolia Hall is now used as an event facility complete with a Ballroom and a V. I. P. bar with a gallery overlooking Charlie's BackYard Bar's outdoor entertainment stage. Charlie's BackYard Bar is not only beautiful historic home but is also a state of the art entertainment venue.
