Detailed description is Listed on the National Register of Historic Places. The Hopewell Treaty trail leads to the site of the Treaty Oak. Hopewell Plantation was Revolutionary War Gen. Andrew Pickens' family estate, where he lived with his wife Rebecca Calhoun. Gen. Andrew Pickens negotiated the Treaties of Hopewell on his farm with the Cherokee, Chocktaw, and Chickasaw nations in 1785 and 1786. The Pickens linage of 12 children includes S.C. Lt. Gov. Ezekiel Pickens and S.C. Gov. Andrew Pickens, Jr. S.C. Gov. Francis W. Pickens was a grandson. Cherry Farm, as Hopewell is also known, is owned by Clemson University.
