Custom Improvements is a family business, owned and operated by Reed and Lunette Dobitz. As the third generation on the Dobitz homestead, we have been growing trees for sale since 1991 and established the landscaping business in 2008.. . The licensed nursery spans 5 acres and includes field grown spruce and pine trees as well as poplar, pear and ash. Container trees 18 inches and up are also available in the spring and fall seasons by order. We specialize in windbreak and privacy plantings.. . We move trees in the spring and the fall. The first window is in the spring when the frost leaves the ground and as soon as the tree spade can go into the soil. This window lasts until around the end of May. The warm weather adds stress to the trees so no trees are moved during the summer months. The second window begins when the weather cools down and September arrives and we move trees until ground freeze up. . . The equipment includes a 30" Bobcat Tree Spade along with a ten pod trailer. This size of tree spade allows us to move up to a six foot tree. We also have a tractor and tiller to prepare soil for new plantings.. . An additional service is windbreak renovation with a Bobcat Brush Saw for tree and shrub removal. We clean up old and dying and overgrown tree areas. The saw cuts the tree at the ground level so the stump can be mowed over. We can take it one step further and remove the stump with a stump grinder. We can also clean up and remove the trees and branches with a Bobcat and dump truck. The site can be prepared for replanting.
