Dance The Sun is a performance group which takes Latin and other styles of dance into the community..
Our mission is to present dances that reflect our passion for movement, music and the synergy that happens when a group of individuals is synchronised and connected.
Some of our dances are simply for the joy of movement while others tell a story or present a message.
We are ecletic and cover a lot of genres – so far: salsa, burlesque, bachata, cha cha, cumbia and a few moves borrowed from tango, bellydance and hip hop..
Dance the Sun formed in 2011 as Las Calientes; since then the group has performed in a number of Nelson community events and Latin dance events around the South Island, including the Masked Parade, and the South Island Salsa Champs..
Dance the Sun welcomes adults of all ages, shapes, sizes and levels of dance experience.
