Detailed description is Decypher was established by the Hamilton Multicultural Services Trust (the Trust) in 1999, as the Hamilton Interpreting Service (HIS) out of concern for the gaps between basic services and people of different cultural, ethnic and linguistic backgrounds. Their strategic focus was to help refugees and immigrants settle successfully by improving access to these services; and creating awareness amongst receiving communities.. . > September 1999 - the first group of bilingual students trained as interpreters at the Auckland University of Technology.. > May 2000 - HIS began operations from an office in Knox Street.. > October 2004 - the Trust and HIS moved to the Multicultural Centre (MC) on Boundary Road, the former Marist Rugby Club rooms.. > October 2006 - the MC was renamed the Waikato Migrant Resource Centre, highlighting the growth in projects and services including the management of the Community Centre.. > October 2008 - HIS moved to 14 Von Tempsky Street.. > March 2010 - HIS underwent a branding makeover and was renamed Decphyer.. > August 2011 - Decypher moved to 96 Rostrevor Street.. > May 2014 - Decypher moved to its current home at Waikato Migrant Resource Centre
