If you are depressed, age 18-50, and have not received course of medication treatment for depression in the past, you may be eligible for a study involving brain imaging and research treatment at no cost to you. The research treatment is with a medication that is not FDA-approved for depression. The study is being conducted at Columbia University/New York State Psychiatric Institute (IRB#6853).. . The study uses two types of brain imaging, position emission tomography (PET) and magnetic resonance imaging (MRI), to learn about depression and its treatment.. . If you are eligible and participate in the study you will be paid up to $747 for your time and effort.. . After you complete participation in the study, you will be offered 6 months of treatment at Columbia University/New York State Psychiatric Institute at no cost to you.
