Early on in his career he worked as a cowboy on large ranches in Alberta, British Columbia and Nevada.
He chose horse training as a full time, life long career in the late ‘70’s.
Kevin mentored and trained with both Tony Ameral and Tom Dorrance in California.
After furthering his knowledge as a horseman Kevin returned to Canada to begin his tenor (almost 35 years so far) as a true professional..

Kevin is recognized by AQHA with Professional Horseman status.
Over the years he has been involved with many organizations and has worked hard to be a highly effective, successful and extremely diverse trainer.
Both the British Columbia Interior Cutting Horse Association and Reining Alberta recognize him as an honorary lifetime member for his efforts on the founding level of their sport associations..

Over the years, Kevin has been a champion in many disciplines including halter, western pleasure, western riding, trail, English pleasure, cutting, cowhorse, reining, and roping.
He is a 21 time Canadian Champion in seven of these events, has been Top 15 in the World twice and has coached and mentored many amateur and young professional trainers to national and world champion status.

He was on the 1998 Winter Olympic Choreography Team to implement the equine portion of the opening ceremonies, has judged Canada's Greatest Cowhorse and the Ranch Horse Competition at Cdn Western Agribition (the largest indoor stock show in North America under one roof), The Brandon Winter Fair, many 50/50 incentive competitions and numerous open, breed, youth and ranch roping competitions..

Kevin is an esteemed clinician and is well known for the positive energy he conveys within his horsemanship techniques; which has also gained him recognition with numerous sportsmanship awards.
He currently teaches across western Canada but has also taught in Germany, Austria, Switzerland, Czechoslovakia, Holland and Italy.
His showing career has also stretched across the continents and includes the title of European Super Horse Champion at Americana (the largest QH show in all of Europe) which is hosted in Germany.
In 2008 Kevin also became a member of the Agribition Ranch Horse Panel and travelled for multiple years with the Judging Panel to make the selections for the fall competition and ranch horse sale.
He is recognized as an SHF Senior General Performance Judge as well as being a recognized Judge for SRCHA (Sask Reined Cowhorse), SRHA (Sask Reining), Open show, ARHVA (Alberta Ranch Horse Versatility) and numerous small associations..

Although his equine activities continue to take priority, Kevin is also recognized as a stock dog trainer.
He; along with wife Dallas; breed and train border collie and Australian kelpies.
Kevin enjoys taking part in arena and field trials at the Open level when time permits and volunteers his skills as a judge at some preliminary beginner level trials.
