Detailed description is The Academy offers a wide variety of genres, from classical Ballet and Modern, & International Folk Stage dances. Artistic Director/Choreographer Anna Djanbazian was born and raised in Tehran- Iran. She obtained her B.A. in Classical Ballet and International Folkloric Stage dances from Russia.. In 1972 she developed a career as an Artistic Director/Choreographer, performer, teacher and producer, in Tehran-Iran. . In 1984 Ms. Djanbazian migrated to the United States and in 1988, she succeeded establishing the Djanbazian Dance Academy in California while accomplishing her M.A. in Modern Dance choreography from UCLA. After founding her own dance Company in 1992, she continued to create over 150 works to critical acclaim, toured and performed successfully nationally & internationally. . As a multiple recipient of Lester Horton Dance Award of 2002, 2003, 2004 and 2006, & the recipient of two Dance Awards of Grand Prix of Italy in 2005, and honoree of 2007 Diamond Awards for Achievement in Arts, Tirgan Festival 2008 Toronto, & received the Medal of “Komitas” from the Ministry of Diaspora of the Republic of Armenia on 2015, this Medal is the prestigious honor of Art in Armenia. Some of the latest choreographed Ballet’s are – Komitas/(Banished but not Forgotten), “Rumi; Path to Enlightenment”, “Welcome to Persia” and “Zal & Rudabeh” based on the Ferdowsi’s mythical tales of Shahnameh & “Priceless Soul” a tribute to the life of Albert Djanbazian. “Carahunge”, dedicated to Armenian Centennial Genocide. Ms. Djanbazian has developed an extensive network of audiences throughout her 43 years of serving the community.
