Detailed description is D L Bahler Custom Instruments, maker of fine handmade Banjos, Mandolins, and Fiddles.. I specialize in 'Mountain Style' instruments. I make custom handmade instruments. I combine modern machine technologies with time honored techniques to create high quality, wonderful sounding instruments within a reasonable cost range. . I also offer repair and setup services for most acoustic instruments. . . My specialty is handmade 'mountain style' banjos -open back banjos for laying clawhammer or other 'old time' banjo styles. These banjos possess that authentic mountain sound. They are made of local hardwoods with carefully crafted Osage Orange (we call it hedge apple) tone rings. I also make bluegrass style banjos with a resonator available with either wood tone rings or Gibson-style cast rings. . . I also make mandolins and fiddles to order. . . 'Mountain Banjo' - $800 base price. 'Bluegrass Banjo' -$1000 base price. . Base price or banjos include the basic instrument with simple dot inlays. . Custom inlays, headstock, rim details, and carved neck heels can be done for added cost (prices available on request). . Mandolins starting at $900. Fiddles starting at $500. . As with banjos, base price includes simple dot inlays (for mandolins) and nothing fancy. Additional work can be done, such as custom inlay work, heel carving, custom pegheads, etc. Prices available upon requests.. . I also offer lessons in Fiddle (Old time and bluegrass styles) and Banjo (old time and bluegrass styles) . .
