Detailed description is It is with great pleasure that I am able to announce my run for Councilor-at-Large for the Town of West Springfield!. . It is with great pleasure that I announce my run for Councilor-at-large for The City of West Springfield. . . As your elected representative, I will focus on a variety of issues, concentrating on the following:. . 1. Increasing Economic Development/Building Infrastructure. . Over the past 4 years West Springfield has seen some major construction and investment as it relates to local businesses (some new and some old). Increasing investment into our community in both the Memorial Ave area and Elm/Park Street areas is one of my main goals. I would love to add one more five-star restaurant in the down town area and tie in events at the Majestic Theatre with these restaurants, increasing foot traffic and the arts presence in our downtown; appealing to potential new businesses and residents. . . 2. Fighting Blight. . The past two years has seen Mayor Reichelt tear down Clark’s Painting, the old Apartments near the Boys and Girls Club, and rehab a variety of homes that had been abandoned due the housing crisis from 2007-2008. Unfortunately, there are still many vacant homes and run-down buildings in our town that we can utilize for positive impacts, building both our residential and commercial tax bases, but also improving the Town’s aesthetics and appeals.. . 3. Public Safety. . This is a two-pronged platform as it relates to both increasing our public safety in regards to personnel for Police/Fire (as we inch closer and closer to the opening of the new casino in downtown Springfield) and also to the Opioid Eidemic that has plagued both our Town and the Commonwealth. I believe backing both the police/fire departments and increasing CARE’s visibility and involvement in the Town is vital to fighting both crime and drug addictions.. .
