ELIP is an Academic Literacies for Specific Purposes program offering student-centered courses in academic writing, speaking, and reading. Our customized courses help students excel in their coursework and discipline. . . We offer courses to all graduate students at OU who want to work on their academic writing and speaking, including class papers, theses, dissertations, publications, presentations, and oral defense. We also offer classes for international graduate students who want to improve their pronunciation and oral communication in order to be better understood by both Americans and other international students.. . Our classes are small, thus allowing for individualized attention, and our assignments are based students' other courses. These for-credit classes do not affect one's GPA if credit is attained.. . Reading & Writing Courses:. * Critical Reading and Analysis (ELIP 5100). * Graduate Reading and Writing (ELIP 5120). * Academic Writing in Graduate Studies (ELIP 5140). * Writing for Research (ELIP 5160). . Oral Communication Courses:. * Oral Communication in Graduate Studies (for International Students) (ELIP 5300). * Oral Communication for the Researcher and Presenter (ELIP 5320). . Oral Communication Courses for International TAs:. * English Pronunciation (ELIP 5200). * Classroom Communication Skills for ITAs (ELIP 5220). . ELIP courses are offered every term, including the summer.
