Detailed description is A Celebration of Filipino Culture The Filifest is a Wellington-based dance group that promotes Filipino culture in New Zealand through folk dances. Currently, we have more than 50 active members with mixture of children and adults, and of Filipinos and Pakeha. . We were established 2005 with the purpose of raising public awareness of Filipino culture and arts in New Zealand. We also want Filipinos, especially the children and youth, to understand their roots and be proud of their culture heritage and identity.. Since 2005 we held shows in Wellington, Hamilton, Rotorua and Auckland. We have performed at Te Papa, Dance Aotearoa New Zealand, Royal Academy of Dance Genee Awards fundraiser, New Zealand Parliament, Philippine Independence Day Celebrations and local multicultural events. We have played a key role in making the 2009 and 2013 Labour Weekend Filipino Annual Reunion a success. We hold our regular practice in Maungaraki Lower Hutt every Saturday.
