Detailed description is Our local Baptist church welcomes everyone who wants to learn more about Jesus. Our Sunday service at 10:40 AM consists of Biblical preaching and worship. First Baptist Church offers Biblical preaching, contemporary praise music, and traditional hymns. We provide a friendly atmosphere that welcomes students, singles, couples, families, and children. You may dress up or wear casual attire. Jeans are acceptable. Sermons are relevant and informative with practical application for every day life. . . Before the service, we have Sunday School and Adult Bible Fellowship at 9:30 am. After the service, though not every Sunday, but several times a year, we have a potluck dinner in Fellowship Hall.. . Pastor Jim DiFilippio is the Senior Pastor of First Baptist Church. Jim is involved in Leadership Development here at First Baptist as well as serving as a coach and mentor to denominational pastors. His wife Jean serves as Women's Ministry Director, Children's Jr. Church and Sunday School teacher as well as Vacation Bible School Director. Jim and Jean have been lifelong natives of Ohio and both are involved in denominational work. They have two adult children and three grandchildren. They have served in three other churches prior to their arrival here in Athens in June 2007.
