Detailed description is The Fort Drum SFL-TAP provides career decision-making and transition assistance to Soldiers, Family members, Veterans, Retirees, and DA Civilians. The Soldier for Life - Transition Assistance Program (SFL-TAP) provides world-class transition services and job assistance training to soldiers and family members in the career decision-making process and, eventually, transitioning from the military. Veterans and retirees are also eligible for services. . . Service members within eighteen months of their separation or within two years of retirement are eligible to begin their SFL-TAP services. It begins with a Congressionally mandated preseparation brief, during which counselors present information about available resources and services. Some service members are in the process of making decisions about reenlisting, some have already made the decision to reenlist. (For those who decide to reenlist, but have not done so, participating in SFL-TAP events will provide professional and personal career development until the contract is signed.) . . Other services include a Financial Planning Seminar, MOS Crosswalk, 3-day Department of Labor Employment Workshop facilitated by the Department of Labor (DOL), a VA Benefits Brief I & II facilitated by the Department of Veterans Affairs (VA), and various job assistance seminars and industry and employer events. Three 2-day seminars are also offered: Accessing Higher Education, Career Technical Track, and Boots 2 Business (B2B). One-on-one counseling is available with any of the SFL-TAP partners: SFL-TAP counselors, DOL, and DVA. Other partners located in Clark Hall with SFL-TAP are: Transition Readiness Liaison and Operation Warfighter/Education & Employment Initiative ((OWF/E2I). . . Once the service member is enrolled in the program, adult family members are also eligible for services. . . Those separating are eligible for services for six months after their separation date; retirees are eligible for lifetime services.
