Detailed description is Fourth Street Warehouse is a place to listen to classical Jazz and enjoy looking at art. Jim Upchurch uses the studio space to create hand hammered art. The goal of Fourth Street Warehouse and Art is to showcase the work of local musicians and artists. The intent is to welcome local artists' shows and classes. The band seeks to keep a style of music alive.. . Fourth Street Warehouse began as the dream of Don Neil as a place for him and others to play standard jazz for the enjoyment of musicians. Don put together the group with Bob Paige on piano, Jim Upchurch on percussion and himself playing bass and singing. In the jam sessions are informal and open to the public. Other guest musicians including Carol Mathieson, Tom Pollet, Derek Boren have played or sung with the group.. . After Don's death, the Upchurches purchased the Warehouse in order to keep the music going. Sherry Taylor joined the group as singer and David Parish as bass player.. . In order to make greater use of the building, the Upchurches decided to renovate the building and to open it up as a venue for art shows and gallery space. The Canton Area Art Gallery lost it's home when it's space was sold on Lewis Street. There has not been a venue for regular art display for several years.
