Woltereck, children’s book author. I have under graduate degrees in Community Health Education and Nursing and a master in Administrative Management. I have spent the better part of the last 35 years serving patients and clients in the greater Baltimore area. . My love of squirrels began in 1975 when the family dog rescued three baby squirrels. I actually drafted my thoughts for the book in 1993 and there it sat on a shelf until the last two years when I collaborated with Paul Treadway to illustrate the book. Over the years I have rehabilitated many abandoned baby squirrels which lead to my love of these curious, little animals. . My first book, Frisbee’s Adventures, is an accumulation of many of our family adventures of this beloved animal. Many people think they are pests; but to our family they are a delight and have brought many happy moments when they are released back into the wild. . The first book is part of a planned series of Frisbee’s Adventures, and yes there actually was a Frisbee, as he travels far and wide to find his squirrel relatives. In all my travels, not only in my own country but those in Europe, I have always been fascinated by the different species of squirrels and how very different they look and the environment in which they live. For many years I traveled for my job so my husband often was the “babysitter” of the babies while I was gone.. I live in Parkton, Maryland with my husband Jim Ralls. My name is Paul Treadway, an award winning, wildlife portraiture artist and illustrator of children’s books. The medium I prefer is pencil: from black and white graphite to a blend of color and pastel pencil. In the past I have worked with watercolor, oil, acrylic, and pastel chalks but have consistently returned to my pencils. Drawing has been my passion since early childhood. Self-taught, I consider myself an absolute realist with great attention to detail.. I am proud to announce that the Rehoboth Art League of Rehoboth Beach, Delaware has named me the “Number One Emerging Artist of 2014”.. I have been privileged to display my work in Museums, Fine Art galleries, shows, and festivals throughout Delaware, Maryland, Pennsylvania, and Virginia. Recently, art galleries in the Outer Banks of North Carolina have accepted some of my pieces for display and sale. Many of my commissioned originals are in private collections in the United States and Canada. I produce full-color Giclee prints of my current work and my re-marked prints are well accepted.. My wife, Janet and I have recently settled in Millsboro, Delaware. Although we enjoy spending time in our home town of Baltimore with family and friends, the Eastern shores of Maryland, Delaware, and Virginia, with the abundance of wildlife and shoreline, have been an inspiration for many of my drawings.. Recently I have accepted the challenge to illustrate a children’s book. Along with the author, Diana Woltereck, we have completed a wonderful children’s book, “Frisbee’s Adventures”. We have had a great time working on this first book, and hope to create additional adventures for Frisbee and his travels.
