Our vision is to educate our community and inspire individuals to raise and secure their food locally. We are committed to growing non-GMO fruits, veggies, herbs and edible flowers to the standards of organically certified growing while pursuing certification. We are located near Starved Rock State Park, just 7 miles south of Ottawa, IL. . Our vision at Grateful Plains is to create a reliable network of sourcing food locally and preserving food safety in the Midwest focusing on heirloom varieties and organic hybrids. We apply our farming efforts of family land in Grand Raids Township and at nearby sub-acre plots including Dirt and Duty Community Market Garden in the Village of Grand Ridge. Our harvest supplies the CSA membership as well as supplies local restaurants, caterers and regular support of Servant's Heart, our local food bank. . . We focus on intensive subacre growing utilizing Small Plot Intensive (SPIN) model for production farming incorporating biodynamics, no-till, permaculture, vermaculture and companion planting methods. Unpaid internships in exchange for room and board are available April to October each year.. . The Grateful Plains Cooperative connects members with bulk buying, local artisans,eco-conscious businesses and educational access to goods and services aligned with holistic preventative health. The cooperative supplies year round certified organic produce to the public through a 'CSA hybrid' box program with 9 menu choices for pickup each Friday noon-7PM and hosts a fresh organic market stand Spring through Fall in the Village of Grand Ridge.. . 2014 CSA Shares still available!!
