Detailed description is Artisan jewelry handmade by the hammer & torch of Eric Decoster. As an undergrad I majored in philosophy so I guess I wasn't planning for an ordinary life. Later, when I became a lawyer, I followed a more traditional path but I off-set that by buying a farm in upstate New York and growing garlic. One afternoon I met a man who changed my life. John had been a jewelry maker for years and still loved what he did. He'd beam with pride showing off his creations and his joy was infectious. Gradually I realized that that was what I wanted - to create pieces I'd be proud of which would be cherished by the wearer.. . I grew up in Onset, MA, a small town on the ocean near Cape Cod, and in several ways nature inspires much of my work. I often incorporate stones into my artwork and use natural elements like silver and re-purposed copper piping. I love making pieces which are organic in design and elements. Wrapping the wire, hammering & torching the metal channels my focus as I respond to what the metal wants to become. As I forge each piece of art I imagine how proudly it will be worn and how special it will make the wearer feel. This passion to make someone realize and remember that they are unique drives me.. .
