Detailed description is A Grade 6-12 School that was located on School St. in Hartland NB: amalgamated and relocated in 2007 Hartland High School was located at 8 School Street in Hartland, NB. It's student population was drawn not only from the town of Hartland, but the surrounding communities of central Carleton County such as (but not limited to) Somerville, Victoria Corner, Brighton, Ashland, Coldstream, Upper Brighton, and Simonds.. . Students in these areas attended Kindergarten to grade 5 at Central Carleton Elementary School located across the river from Hartland in Somerville. Students in grades 6 through 12 moved on to Hartland High School, making attending the school a unique experience due to the eclectic mix of both young and old: a middle school and high school combined into one.. . Hartland High School provided students in grades 10-12 with a College Preparatory course of instruction. Most classes offered were solid fundamental courses such as English, History, Chemistry, Physics, Biology, Calculus and French. Extra-curricular activities offered included yearbook, newspaper, band, ICSF, and various clubs including drama, booster, art, bridge, guitar and chess. Graduating classes varied in size from 30-50 students per year, meaning staff at HHS could very well know most students by name.. . Varsity sports at Hartland High school included soccer in the fall, basketball in the winter and volleyball in the spring. Boys and girls teams competed against both Carleton County teams and teams across the province. Basketball proved to be so popular that even hockey players gave up the ice for the hardcourt, helping the HHS Huskies achieve dominance in provincial basketball for periods of years. . . In March of 2007, both Central Carleton Elementary School and Hartland High School closed their doors and amalgamated, moving into the brand new $13.1 Million Hartland Community School, located at 217 Rockland Road, which was officially opened on the 28th of May 2007.. . "Hartland Community School has three kindergarten classrooms, nine classrooms from grades 1-5 and 14 classrooms for grades 6-12. Other features of the school include an art room and music room, library, computer and technology labs, science labs, two gymnasiums, a fitness centre, a resource centre, a cafetorium with multi-level seating, and space for family studies and student services."
