Detailed description is Sales and Marketing of quality Thoroughbreds. Training and Lessons for Eventing and Jumpers. Hidden Fox Farm is a barn specializing in three-day eventing. We offer instruction from beginner to intermediate riders of all ages in basic horsemanship, eventing and hunter/jumpers in Portland, Southwest Washington and surrounding areas.. . We also offer training for young horses or seasoned mounts in need of a 'tune up.' We can travel to your barn or you can come to ours.. . We specialize in marketing very nice thoroughbreds off the track that are well built, well mannered, sound and athletic. We have a continuous supply of horses to chose from. We are known as the "go-to" people when a trainer at the racetrack has a nice horse that looks to be a great sporthorse prospect. We strive to find the perfect match of horse and rider and will aid anyone in their search for that special mount! We offer shopping trips so you can view several horses in one visit thus saving time and money instead of driving from barn to barn. Most horses are located in Portland, OR.. . My name is Katie and I ride, train, compete, instruct and coach in the sports of three day eventing and show jumping. I have been riding since I was three weeks old in a backpack herding cattle in Idaho and started formal lessons at 8. I have ridden Internationally in England and Ireland. I have with ridden some of the best coaches and riders in my sport, Mike Huber, Jim Graham, assisted Sally O'Connor and Captain Mark Phillips(Coach of the United States Olympic Eventing Team) and more. I also have a background in Pony Club which has given me a strong foundation in the basics from stable management through training and competing.. . . I spent many years as a working student in Southern California breaking, training and competing warmbloods and thoroughbreds and started competing clients horses at the age of 14 in prestigious events all over California. I have since started my own business in the Northwest bringing my own horses up the levels as well as students. I am married to racehorse trainer, Kenneth Peery, who I have learned an amazing amount from not only Thoroughbred race training, but about identifying, treating and preventing injuries and lameness in the competition horse. We have two girls, Elizabeth(4 1/2yr) and Pippa(almost 2yr) and a 13yo stepson Josh.. . I have a passion for teaching young riders from the ground up as well as adult riders looking to start a new sport or improve their already learned skills.. . On top of teaching and training, I have a booming horse sales business. I spend a lot of my time marketing quality Thoroughbreds off the track for new careers in eventing, hunter/jumpers, dressage, Pony Club, Western disciplines and more!! I have been very successful even in this unsteady economy and have very happy clients on both the buying and selling side and have had repeat buyers.. . Summary of Qualifications. -25 years of horse experience. -Trained with and under some of the top riders and trainers in eventing. -Competed in eventing since 1992. -Trained for eventing in England and Ireland. -Teaching lessons since 1997. -Former Pony Club member. -Worked on a warmblood breeding farm handling stallions, broodmares and youngstock. -Breaking, training and competing horses for the sports of eventing, dressage, show jumper and hunters since 1999. -Worked as a "Hill Toppers" Field Master for the Santa Fe Hunt in Temecula, California. -Professional Braider and Groom. -Worked under a trainer who was supplying horses for "Medieval Times" in Los Angeles. -Assistant farm manager and show secretary/organizer. -Assistant trainer/groom/pony person/exercise rider and barn manager for KP Racing Stables. -Have worked with a variety of breeds. -successful equine marketer and "Bloodstock Agent". -Have competed in eventing through preliminary level, have schooled and qualified for 1* and intermediate level. -Have competed in show jumping up to 4'6. -Ridden through 2nd/3rd level dressage. -Worked at Sidesaddle Tack Shop.
